Last Day of Shopping the Paris Markets!!!

Sadly, my wonderful few days of shopping Chatou and every flea market I could find in Paris has come to an end :(  The weather gods smiled on me as the weather has been perfect! As I packed my last suitcase an hour ago, it finally started to rain!

But let me show you just a few of the treasures I found today.....................
Saying au revoir to my beloved Paris for now...as I will return again ...soon!
Thanks to everyone who as been following my trip....you are all the BEST!!!!! Lee
Great Wine Crate Ends! Use as plaques or trivets! What fun!

And these high collectable French Medals!
These  5 are painted by sweet little old man I met in one of the market today! Couldn't resist!!!

Day 4 - Shopping the other Paris Markets !!!

Spitting rain woke me up this morning, but it didn't dampen my spirits as I raced out the door early this morning! Rain or no rain...it still is Paris after all!!!!
(wood and brass vintage ornaments)
(these are tiny French Brass Pins)

Lucky for me the rain was almost over by the time I reached Porte de Vanves (please see one of my previous posts about Vanves Market). So nice to see my old friends/dealers still there and a nice crowd turned out even with the weather and Chatou going on.

Next stop, a couple of the neighborhood flea markets that pop-up around the city from time to time. What fun!

*** One of the markets was situated at the base of Sacre Coure at Metro Anvers. I love going there to shop for fabrics...yummy documented reproductions of historic Toile de Jouy are my personal favorites! But beware! This area is known for its pick pockets! Always, no matter where you go , you should be on the alert for such matters, and although (knock on wood) I have never been a victim of these grabby hands, I know those who have! ***

Here are just a few more pictures of the goodies I brought back to the studio today!
Awesome Champagne Buckets and a large Wicker covered water Jug from Lourdes ( where the healing waters are)
And these little beauties may have to visit my own Chateau for a while before I let you have them!!!
Until tomorrow...I'm dining on Mousse du Carnard and Fromage Poivre with Pain and a petite Rouge! yummy!
Bisou bisou, Lee

Fall Buying in Paris ~ Chatou Day 2

It was a festive atmosphere today at Chatou!!! Dealers returned and the public was invited in add to it a splendid weather day and it felt like a carnival!

But let me digress a moment as I tell you how to get there....
First, take the Metro to Charles de Gaulle-Etoile station. there follow the signs to RER A.
You'll feel like you're going down underground by 16 floors, and in fact, it is quite a ways down.
Look for A-1 line.....not to be confused with all the other A lines!!!! Your A-1 line goes to St Germain en Laye.
Then you will have less than 15 minutes to relax as you will depart at station Chatou-Choissy. Walk to your left, cross the Seine River bridge, walk down the stairs ( here you will see all of the dealer trucks), turn toward the right and enter through the back gates. There is a front gate also, but you have to walk further from the metro stop.
Now you have arrived! Count on at least 3 hours to quickly see everything...even more if you stop for lunch or shop a lot.....which I hope you will do both!
Following photos are some snapshost of just a few of the things I saw today. *** if you are going to take photos- remember to ask first!***
And do plan on having lunch there! Its one of the most fun, and tasty, parts of the fair! And if you buy a lot from one of the dealers and make friends, expect that they will offer you a glass of wine or cheese as a snack...it happens to me all the time...accept it with grace!
Enjoy..............................

Buying at Chatou and the Paris Markets!!!

As you may have seen in an early post, Chatou Antique Market only comes twice a year...and I try never to miss it. Its so big that other flea markets pop up all over Paris just to join the act!
I plan to arrive a day early, so I can get settled into my little studio apartment, buy groceries ( shrimp, mussels, water, olives, frommage, wine, bread and pate' and for petite dejeaner, coffee and pain ou chocolat!!!
My view from my apartment, with a sliver of the Tour Eiffel.
I love getting re-acquainted with the city again, feel its heart beat, and get into the swing of just being a Parisian again! I visit my favorite shops, wall through the gardens, and breathe the rarified air of Paris!
Tomorrow the buying starts...up at the crack..and loving every minute of it......but just for today.....

...enjoying the view!!!!!
Until tomorrow my friends.......bon soir!
